New York City Restaurants-Breakfast and Brunch
____________________________________________
E. J.'s Luncheonette
These diners (there are several locations in Manhattan), which offer
comfort food and blue-plate specials, are really at their best for
breakfast. They serve a variety of pancakes, waffles and French
toast, along with other breakfast choices. Great kid-friendly menu.
Be aware that weekend brunch is a popular New York activity and
there can be very long lines. Daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Sarabeth's Kitchen
Weekend crowds flock to this homey Upper West Side eatery, and no
wonder: The thoughtful offerings range from chive-scrambled eggs to
pumpkin waffles with a generous dollop of sour cream. The homemade
preserves are always warm, and the baked goods are also delicious.

Veselka
Though this onetime greasy-spoon eatery has gone a tad upscale, it
remains an East Village institution thanks to good
Ukrainian-influenced diner fare. We like the potato pierogies and
raspberry pancakes. The low prices and round-the-clock service make
it a favorite of New York University students. Daily 24 hours. $. No
credit cards. 144 2nd Ave. (at East 9th Street; near the Astor Place
subway station), Manhattan, New York City. Phone 212-228-9682.
